Get Behind your Team
Whether you are planning to attend this year's BT Paralympic World Cup or watching it on TV then this is the page you should be looking at!
This year athletes will not only be competing for their country, but also for one of our BT Paralympic World Cup Teams. The four teams are:
Great Britain, GBR, Blue Europe, EUR, Green The Americas, AME, Red Rest of the World, ROW, Yellow
Each team will be represented by a colour which you will be able to spot on their bibs.
How do I get involved?
Create a Flag
There is no better way to show your support than by having your own flag to cheer on your favourite team.
Below are the designs which you can download by clicking on, and make your own flag to bring with you to the event!
Please choose a flag from above or the "I'll be there!" poster if you want to participate in the BT PWC Competition. Please click here for more information.
If you don’t want to support just one team perhaps create a BT Paralympic World Cup flag that has our logo on – click on the image below to download it.
Create a Chant for your Favourite Team
Create a chant for one of the four Teams, or for your favourite athlete and practice with your school mates.
Invent a new Paralympic Games
Have you heard of ChessBoxing? Or Boccia? Or Wheelchair Fencing? These are all sports played by athletes in the UK. Are there any other sports played by athletes in other countries? Could you combine a sport played somewhere, such as SUMO in Japan, with a sport in the UK to create a new sport? Can you and your classmates think of a new paralympic sport? Get into groups of 3 or 4 and see what you can come up with. What would you name this new game? Can you explain the game so you can allow others to play?
Face Painting
This is a fun and interactive way of getting involved! We will have face paint available on the day in each of the 4 team colours (Great Britain – Blue, Europe – Green, the Americas – Red and the Rest of the World – Yellow). We will also have some stencils of the BT Paralympic World Cup logo so you can really feel part of the event! You can also bring your own paints or come with your faces already painted.
Why not arrange for you and your classmates to paint your faces on the way to the event so you can arrive cheering on your team?
Support a Team
Dress in the colours of a Team to support the athletes playing for that Team! You can wear Blue to support all the UK players and of course the Union Jack. You can wear green clothes if you want to support Europe, Red if you want to support the Americas and Yellow for the Rest of the World. Make sure you keep an eye out for our Athlete information page where you can learn more about some of elite atheletes coming to compete at the BT Paralympic World Cup in May! This will also give you the opportunity to learn about which country they are from and which team they will be representing.
On the Day
There will be 'Come and Try' activities which include wheelchair basketball competitions, pom pom challenges, a climbing wall and hand cycle races for your students to enjoy! Come early to Athletics and get involved!
