Great Britain 50 - 63 China
Fengling Peng (captain) (CHINA)
“The game went very well today but it’s a little disappointing to only win the bronze medal. Our goal coming into the event was at least a silver but we had a terrible game yesterday.
“This week overall has been a really good experience for the players playing together as a team and we’ve learn a lot more about our opponents.
“We’ve really enjoyed the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester. It’s a great city, the event has been really well organised and the staff have been fantastic.”
Caroline MacLean (GBR)
“I’m pleased with my own performance as I felt I was perhaps a bit down in the last match. We were all really up for this game and I think despite the loss overall we’re pleased. At times today I think we lacked confidence in our shooting
“We’re doing everything we can to improve. We’re a really new team with lots of new faces so we just need to step up and keep training. We’ve got a few weekends away coming up so we’ll keep training and hope to see some improved performances for the Europeans in August.”
Garry Peel (coach) (GBR)
“It would have been great to get the win to give the girls more confidence, but even though I coach girls to win, our goals in this tournament was to expose the youngsters a little bit and as you can see they don’t have any fear.
“There’s a real buzz and excitement about the team and we’re going to develop together now. I’ve got 21 girls in my squad and if we can keep them together for the next three years, I think Great Britain can be a force in 2012.
“The BT Paralympic World Cup is fantastic, we really need this tournament especially in England because you don’t get many tournaments over here. Playing China and the Dutch is fantastic because we need to be competing against the best.”
Madeleine Thompson (GBR)
“The BT Paralympic World up means a lot to me and to play here at 14-years-old is a great achievement and proves that all the hard work was worthwhile. My family have been here this week to cheer me on so I’m really grateful for all their support.
“It’s back to school for me now and I have half term next week then I start the first set of tests for my GCSEs. That will be difficult but we are all working hard to get to London 2012 which I’m sure will be amazing.”
