“I didn't think I could get a world record in that event. It's not my favourite event, the 400m freestyle is so to break the world record in my second event and to take two seconds off my PB is really good.
“London is three years away yet so I've just got to do what I normally do - take each race as it comes and go out there and do my best.
“For everyone to come to Manchester for the BT Paralympic World Cup is really good so hopefully this is getting us British swimmers used to surroundings for London and hopefully by London everyone will turn out to watch us all.”
Silver Medal – Natalie Jones, GBR

“I am really happy with the silver medal. The 100m freestyle isn't really my best event so to do a personal best here in Manchester at the BT Paralympic World Cup is brilliant.
“It's quite funny because me and Ellie were joking about getting a 1-2 last week so to do it is brilliant. I'm dead chuffed and really pleased for Ellie as well because to get that world record which has been standing for ages is just amazing and hopefully she'll keep it now.”
Bronze Medal – Lauren Steadman, GBR

"I felt really good, I haven't PB'd for a whole year in that race so I didn't PB this evening in a strong race. We raced last weekend down in Sheffield, but the BT Paralympic World Cup is one step better.
"My form at the moment is really good, I have achieved a personal best this weekend and last weekend so at the moment feel pretty fit."
Gold Medal – Heather Frederiksen, GBR

“I was hoping to swim fast and to swim hard and strong. It's great that I've got Jess here to be able to race against because I've not raced against her since Beijing.
“Leading into the 100m backstroke I was quite nervous because it hasn't really gone to plan in the last few weeks in training. It's taken a lot of hard work to get my confidence back up on my backstroke so to be able to do 14.9 is unbelievable.
“The atmosphere here at the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester is unbelievable, it's absolutely brilliant. It's very much like swimming in Beijing, you get all the home crowd in and behind you.”
Bronze Medal – Rachel Latham, GBR

“I'm really pleased with the result. It's only just off the time that I did in Beijing so to get that close is really good because it took me so long to get to that point.
“The BT Paralympic World Cup is a brilliant event for us. Obviously the Paralympics is only every four years so to be able to have a competition like this against our rivals is really good for our experience and to keep improving.
“I train here in Manchester so to be able to swim here in front of this crowd is amazing."
Gold Medal – Rhiannon Henry, GBR

“It was a pretty good swim for me. I wanted a British record but it was still a fast swim.
“It's always difficult the year after the Paralympics but I just had to get myself motivated again and train hard.
“I think the BT Paralympic World Cup is really important. My main competitors are from North America and Australia and we don't get to race that often because we are so far apart so the BT Paralympic World Cup provides an opportunity for the world to get together.

“It's not my strongest event but it's an event I quite like doing so that was probably quite good for me. It was just outside my best and I wasn't expecting to go that quick so that was really good.
“It's always important to come and swim against the best in the world. You want to know where you are compared to them especially in a year like this where you've got the World Short Cross Championships to come.
“The atmosphere has been good here at the BT Paralympic World Cup. I really like swimming in front of a home crowd."
Silver Medal – Stephanie Milward, GBR

“It was a good race. I generally don't swim 50m freestyle, I'm more a 100m swimmer, but it was a nice slap and dash – a good warm-up for my 100m later.
“The BT Paralympic World Cup is just fantastic because of the media and all the people coming to watch us. It's a wonderful event and it makes you feel good when you are standing there and you've got the crowd screaming for you.”
Gold Medal – Natalie Du Toit

I think it was a good swim but think I would have done better if I swam this morning and then swam in the finals tonight. I just didn't have the speed which I kind of expected so it is not a bad time and I seem to do that sort of time fairly often so I'm pretty happy with it.
I like coming to Manchester but this year I just decided to do the 100m because I am racing in the 10km next week. I think just to show my support of the competition is great because we get to come here every year and other than that we would just be competing against each other every two years. I think for me to come here and see the up and coming stars is just fabulous.
I think that Great Britain have really grown their squad it is great to see the amount of money that has been ploughed into them and I think that they are getting results out of it. It is something that we miss out on at home so I think other than that everything is going great and you will probably see a lot of these guys swimming in a lot of able bodied competitions as well.
I am sort of confident and nice ahead of my 10km in Italy at the Italian National Championships and I am crossing my fingers that I will make the World Championships team. The team hasn't come out yet but I think it would be incredible. Obviously it is going to be pretty tough to get better and better so that is what I am focusing on at the moment.

“It was a nice swim I felt comfortable and it just seemed to go pretty good. So it was a good swim all around.
It was a little bit away from my personal best so it was a little slow but still a good swim.
My training has been going a bit slow. I'm just trying to keep a balance between swimming and school but it is still going well.
I've come over especially from the USA for this event and I think everything has gone really well and the set up and atmosphere is great.”
Gold Medal – Louise Watkin (GBR)

"We all won a medal which is great but we went into the race thinking we could all come out with one, two and three no matter where we were placed. We got what we wanted and it is all good for everyone and for GB.
"We are all back together training again and being on the podium, all three of us is really good.
"Competing at home really spurs you on and seeing supporters from Beijing who we met is great so it is just really nice for us to see the same supportive faces over and over again.
"Everything went really well in the pool and I really enjoyed it. It was an amazing race and feeling and to do what I did in Beijing again is fantastic and a great feeling. I hope I have a better time in me. I have just got back from altitude training and did a lot of aerobic work and to have some speed in me is great. I'm now aiming towards the Europeans in October."
Gold Medal –Sam Hynd (GBR)

“That race went absolutely fantastic. The meet I had before this I wasn't really on form to be honest. I was swimming well but not at my best but that was fantastic out there today.
It was very close to my own world record today and my second best swim ever. I most definitely think I have another world record in me. I have just got back from a high altitude training camp and the benefits of that means I have certainly improved.
I am racing in Berlin at the weekend so hopefully I can break the world record there. I had a great time doing the high altitude training, everything went really well and I'm optimistic I can break a world record in the next few weeks.
We've got the European and World Championships later on in the year in October and November so will go out there and try to do the best I can, break a few records and hopefully the medals will come as well."
Bronze Medal –Sean Fraser (GBR)

“The race was pretty hard and tiring. I thought I could have got second place as I was inside the German's personal best but I can't complain. I was laying in fourth but I came through and came third.
The German got a personal best as well so unfortunately I didn't get the second place but I have got my personal best so I am happy.
I had injury problems at the start of the year so it is a good sign I'm picking up as 400m is a long distance. Fitness is certainly coming back. If not fit already then I am very nearly there. I've got the European Championships in Iceland so I have to stay fit until October.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the year as long as I stay fit. Backstroke is my main event so I am concentrating on that and try and go for a world record in the 100m and challenge the Russian who won gold in Beijing. With regards 400m I'm just aiming to improve my time and get as close to Sam Hynd as I can."

“I am happy with my performance; I got some work to do between the World Championships and 2012. So I will put in the hard work and get ready of the World Championships and 2012 Games.
I train five days a week, four hours a day and that's it for me. I go back to the States after this and train for a National in four weeks.”

“It was a great occasion today, it's nice to show the public what shape we are in from Beijing and it was a nice meeting. I have come away with two medals, two reasonably good times.
Last week I went a bit faster at the European trials so I should be a little disappointed, but I'm pleased with what I have done over the past two days.
Since I have come back from Beijing its been up and down, illnesses, sick, injuries and other stuff outside swimming as well, but hopefully that's behind me now and I can knuckle down to some decent training for the Europeans that are on in October.”
Silver Medal – Jessica Long, USA
1:21.61
“Heather swam so much faster, she's such a good swimmer she was so fast but I did a good swim.
My goal this year is to keep doing will and achieve my best swim
My performance was good. I definitely need to work a little bit more but I was happy with it. I'm training to keep in shape, but I have not done a lot of training so I was happy with it. I train with some fast girls so it's been hard work.
I have trials in Canada in July and then the World Championships later in the year.”
Gold Medal – David Roberts

"There are nicer ways to spend a birthday but it was still good today. Neither swim was really that good but sometimes in an event like this the winning is more important. When doing the 100m it wasn't a great swim but I was thinking I just really need to win this. You've got to be mean sometimes.
"I usually let Matt Walker lead for the first 45 and finish it when the work really needs to be done; I'm that kind of guy. It was a good race and is always guaranteed to be exciting race in this type of atmosphere and gives a bit of excitement to the public which is what I think you're looking for.
"It is an open thing really, he beat me last weekend and I beat him this weekend. It is just the way it is and that is how it happens in the major competitions which is nice.
"It was quite hard today. Back to back racing is really hard work and I broke the world record in the 400m yesterday so I think that doesn't help and particularly this afternoon. We started an hour earlier than we have been. Not much difference really so if you would have said I'd swim in 28 and would have won it I'd have said yes please so I'm not really that disappointed.
"I came out after the 400m yesterday and wasn't sure who was more shocked, me or my coach. It was an unusual one. We just tried a new breathing pattern just for a laugh and as an experiment to see how it would work and apparently in worked quite well. I usually breathe every six but I breathed every three and apparently oxygen really helps. I thought I would have some of that and look it works. I think it was just a case of getting more oxygen into my lungs."
