"We (Matthew and David) were in the car beforehand talking about how we've swam through the ages. It was a good result today. I just dived in and swam my own race. It was really good and I'm delighted to have taken the gold, and helped with an overall good GB performance in the pool."

"It's nice to still be competitive. This is a stepping stone towards the World Champs. I'm not massively disappointed with the result today because it's just a stepping stone and I've also been through a big transition.

"It's always nice to get a better result than an American, no matter what shape you're in. I'm going through a transition in my life at the moment as is Lantz Lamback so still come out on top of him, is good.

"I think I'm still ahead of him (Lantz) which is a goo thing because the World Championships aren't too far away."
