Naidex the UK's longest established disability, homecare and rehabilitation exhibition is returning to the Birmingham NEC on 20th-22nd April 2010. The event is completely FREE for visitors. To register go to www.naidex.co.uk quoting priority code E377.
The exhibition opens at 10:00am and Naidex is proud to announce Shannon Murray will be performing the opening ceremony on Tuesday 20th April. Shannon is the UK’s most recognisable disabled model and is enjoying a successful career, recently starring in the Channel 4 series How to Look Good Naked, and completing a photo-shoot with Debenhams, the first time a disabled model has appeared in advertising for a high street store. In addition to opening Naidex, Shannon will also be giving a short talk and answering questions in the lifestyle and demonstration zone at 1:30pm.
Naidex is also delighted to welcome back Ade Adepitan, wheelchair basketball Paralympian, television presenter and patron of Go Kids Go, who is set to attend the show on Wednesday 21st April 2010.
Ade contracted polio aged 3 which left him in a wheelchair, but has gone on to lead a very active career. A member of the Great Britain Paralympics team that won Bronze at the Athens Olympics and Gold at the 2005 Paralympics World Cup in Manchester, Ade has also had a successful television career, recently appearing as a judge on Dancing On Wheels.
Located within KideQuip, Naidex’s area dedicated to children’s equipment and services, Go Kids Go will also be running ‘Have a go’ sessions throughout the three days, featuring wheelchair games, challenges, dance sessions and an introduction to wheelchair basketball. Spare wheelchairs will be available so that non-disabled parents and siblings can join in the fun.
Heralded as the best Naidex ever, this year’s event also boasts an impressive array of New Features. The Car Zone is a dedicated area for companies to showcase their latest converted car products. Leading car manufacturers will be offering advice and information to visitors, as well as cars to view and sit in.
The new Sensory Garden, is an interactive area where visitors can enjoy a functioning garden which appeals to all the senses. This zone will feature natural planting combined with interesting visual and textual displays that also offer unique sounds, fragrances and tastes whilst incorporating garden design. Similarly, visitors can see the latest innovations in assistive technology and communication aids in the new Communication Village, a dedicated area for companies to showcase their latest converted car products. Leading car manufacturers will be offering advice and information to visitors, as well as cars to view and sit in.
For people looking for new products there is the New Product Showcase. Visitors will be able to see the latest industry trends and innovations and will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite entries to win the Naidex New Product of the Year Award.
There is a Lifestyle and Demonstration area, a practical feature area that will showcase a range of practical product demonstrations and informative seminars. Each session lasts 30 minutes, and whether you are a healthcare professional or member of the public, this feature gives visitors the opportunity to learn from the experts and be inspired. Sessions include the Canine Partners, Special Yoga Centre, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, Kingkraft, Protac and Invacare.
Naidex are also pleased to support ‘When you Wish upon a Star’, the Naidex Charity of the Year. The charity grants the wishes of children suffering from life threatening illnesses from the ages of two to sixteen.
