The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is the international governing body of sport for athletes with a disability. It supervises and co-ordinates the Paralympic Summer and Winter Games and other multi-disability competitions, of which the most important are World and Regional Championships. The IPC, situated in Bonn, Germany, also supports the recruitment and development of athletes at a local, national and international level across all performance levels.
The IPC is pleased to be sanctioning the BT Paralympic World Cup. This international multi-sport competition being held initially in Manchester in years 2005-2008 is sure to become a highly successful competition with coverage and support from world leading Paralympic sport broadcaster BBC Television.
The IPC is delighted that Athletics, Cycling, Swimming and Wheelchair Basketball - four Paralympic sports - will be showcased in Manchester in 2009, and is sure that this will be yet another opportunity for Paralympians to inspire and excite the world.
